Jamaican instructor in Miami allegedly calls pupil with dreadlocks a racial slur
A 13-year-old pupil on the Coconut Palm Ok-8 Academy in Homestead was allegedly addressed with a racial slur by his instructor.
The incident has since ignited a sequence of reactions from dad and mom, the college, and the group.
From classroom incident to household outcry
In response to reviews, Anita and Johnny Richardson, the boy’s dad and mom, stated that their son was known as the “n-word” by a instructor who can also be of Black heritage.
Anita Richardson stated that their seventh grader son requested a query in school, and the instructor allegedly responded with “sure ‘n-word’.”
She added that her son was shocked by the remark.
“He’s bothered by it. He was embarrassed, she stated it in entrance of the entire class,” stated Richardson.
“My little one stated he advised her, ‘Miss, that’s a curse phrase’. She stated, ‘Oh effectively the place I’m from’, she’s from Jamaica, ‘youngsters or folks with locs (dreadlocks) like his, they name them the n-word’.”

Anita Richardson expressed her frustration on the principal’s refusal to take away her son from the instructor’s class and reprimand the instructor.
Johnny Richardson emphasised the instructor’s duty, asserting, “It’s very inappropriate. Try to be encouraging them to not say the ‘n-word’.”
Faculty district’s assertion
The varsity district responded to the incident by saying “they’re conscious and the habits received’t be tolerated.”

The Richardsons have expressed that they need accountability and an apology from the instructor to their son.
