Storm Watch: Haiti, TCI, Dominican Republic on alert for Tropical Storm Franklin


The Eighth Storm of 2023 Tropical Storm Franklin has emerged because the season’s eighth storm, originating within the Caribbean Sea on Sunday. 

Because it features momentum, Caribbean islands are on excessive alert, getting ready for potential impacts.

The Dominican Republic and Haiti have been issued each a Tropical Storm Warning and Watch. In the meantime, the Turks and Caicos Islands stay below a Tropical Storm Watch.

Tropical Storm Franklin’s latest standing

Stories from the US Nationwide Hurricane Centre (NHC) are that Franklin was positioned 380 km south of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The storm has sustained winds which are 50 mph (85 km/h).

If present predictions maintain, the middle of Franklin is about to make landfall on the southern coast of Hispaniola by Tuesday evening. 

NHC anticipates that the storm could intensify a bit earlier than it reaches Hispaniola’s shores.
